The stories the gospel writers tell about Jesus’ last days center around those who had followed him from Galilee, those who were his inner circle, those who had been convinced he was God’s chosen. It is a story of intimates, of friendship, of denial and betrayal. It is a story with which we who are honest about our lives are very familiar.
Jesus confronts power. He is arrested. He is questioned. But he says little. His public behavior is very different from what we have become accustomed to seeing from an innocent person accused of a major crime.
But the questions all seem to ask, who is he and what is my, our, relationship with him? And what does that have to do with Yahweh, with God’s involvement with God’s creation?

As we begin this week before we engage in the turmoil, before we experience personally these last days, let’s stop. Today let’s search for our souls. Today let’s nurture our spirits. Sit. Reflect. Be.
Loving God, we need to know you are—you are loving, you are here, you are welcoming. Give us today the assurances we need so that we may walk with Jesus this week. Amen.
Blessings, Caroline
