By the tender mercy of our God,
the dawn from on high will break upon us,
to give light to those who sit in darkness…
to guide our feet into the way of peace.” Luke 1: 78-79
Read Luke 1: 68-79
This week we not only hope in the coming return of Jesus, but we work to prepare for that day. God’s salvation, a light to the darkness comes, but we must change the way we see to know that light.
And so today our song cries out:
We sing of God’s guiding light, of God’s coming salvation
“On those who sit in darkness The sun begins to rise, The dawning of forgiveness Upon the sinner’s eyes. God guides the feet of pilgrims Along the paths of peace. O bless our God and Savior With songs that never cease!” (“Song of Zechariah, Benedictus, #602)
Let the words Zechariah sang be music to your ears. As your day passes, form words of preparation with the song.
Lord, like Zechariah, we know we are blessed. You are redeeming your world; you are sending your way of salvation. Your promises are true. Forgive our blindness, open our eyes, and let us see. Amen.
