LENT 2014

Today is the first Sunday of Lent. In this space over the next weeks I will offer meditations on encounters of people with Jesus that are recorded in the gospels. Our purpose this Lent is find anew for ourselves who is this Jesus. We will seek to answer for ourselves and our age the question Jesus asked his disciples: "Who do you say that I am?" (Matthew 16:16) In answering we hope to open doors to who we are and what is our relationship with the Son of Man.

Lent is a journey in which we are offered the chance to retreat briefly and reflect on our relationship with our God. Setting aside some time away from the busyness of living to ponder and rest can bring newness and joy. Even if the journey seems long and at times painful it is worth the walk.

In this space you will find each week pictures, Scripture, meditations and questions to prompt you walk. It is my hope that these will lead you to encounter Jesus anew. Blessings, Caroline

  1. Blessings to you on your Lenten Journey, fellow pilgrim. Am trying to figure out those distractions that take me away from Jesus, and those that keep me walking hand-in-hand with where I think the Spirit is leading me. When my ego gets in the way, I have to once again say "Get behind me, Satan," for I am distracted so very easily. In developing a rhythm of praying hours and working hours, things seem to be running more smoothly. Give me the perseverance I need, Lord, to become the self-disciplined person who walks with you at all times: working, praying or playing.
