END OF YEAR: CHRIST THE KING

Today marks the end of the year according to the church calendar. We celebrate the day by recognizing the kingship of Christ. Next Sunday we will begin the new year with the first Sunday of Advent.

The end of the year is always a good time to reflect, to review the past and perhaps plan for the future. As we have listened to the words of Matthew's gospel (chapter 25) envisioning the return of the Messiah in glory we have heard the call to preparedness, the reminder to be good stewards, and the mystery of Christ's presence in the least. While not always comforting and often challenging, these passages form a good place to begin our walk through the year past.

How have we been true followers of Jesus? What sort of citizens of Christ's kingdom have we been? Invite Jesus to be your companion as you remember, rejoice, repent.

Advent begins next Sunday. I invite you to join me in observing the season. Some suggestions will appear hear weekly.

Blessings
Caroline
