The anonymous painters of icons believe their work can be for us a window to God. Christ, the human revelation of God, looks longingly, perhaps menacingly, and loving at us. This is the One to whom we will ask our questions this Lent. This is the One from whom we hope for answers. This is the One with whom we walk this Lent.

Are you my friend? Are you my critic? Are you my guide?

I look into your eyes. I see... You see...

Lord Jesus, come. Have mercy. Show us your truth. Bless us. Amen.
