PRAYING TO TRIUNE GOD

Thoughts: One

To Whom It May Concern: My computer generates that greeting automatically. To whom do you address your prayers? Is there a particular person of the Trinity that you pray to regularly? Does the content of your prayer differ when you pray to the Father, to the Son, to the Spirit? Do you instead always address God?: God, the merciful one, God the all powerful one, God, the loving one, God, the…. Is how you think of God at the moment reflected in the way you call on God?

I usually address my prayers to God. Sometimes I add a modifier that resonates with my thoughts at the moment. The universal, all-inclusive one seems to fit my picture, but I wonder if I limit God by being so general, generic. Am I missing the loving Father who would wrap his arms around me and tell me he cared? Am I failing to find the intimate talk I could have with One who walked the earth as I do? Do I miss the fantastic energy that an alive and vibrant Spirit brings to the course of daily living? Being in communion with the Ones that are in communion as God, Triune, is an enticing thought—

Which person of the Trinity seems most comfortable? Which least? Why?
