SEVENTH DAY OF ADVENT

Saturday, December 5, 2009

Today ends the first week of Advent, the week of hope and promise. I invite you to reflect on the week past. Remember your times of work and play, worship and prayer. Look again at your Advent wreath—only one candle lit and yet the light begins to shine. The darkness of the world is lightened by the hope and promise of God’s day. The Son of Man is coming. But your calendar still hides its message. Our work is just begun.

Ponder the world as it is…and your role as a messenger of justice, an instrument of hope.
Record your thoughts, draw your images, pray your insights.

Respond to this week of Advent, the week of hope and promise, with what resonates with your soul and your concern for the world.

Suggestions:
Take a walk
and collect signs of God’s presence, God’s work in the world, or see the signs in your home or work place. Make a record of your sightings.

Be an instrument of satisfying another’s hope. Maybe choose an angel from an angel tree, “buy” a Voi card, or make a donation to Network. Perhaps search for that special gift for someone.

Come, Lord Jesus, come. Amen.
