As we end the second week of Advent we are well into the season. Christmas activities are in full swing. Yet this is the week we think of John’s call to prepare for the coming of the Lord by the baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. The bright lights of the holiday streets don’t match the cries from the wilderness.
Ponder the table you are planning for the coming day of the Lord.
Describe it in words or pictures. Pray your insights.
Respond to this week of Advent, the week of preparation and repentance, with activities that resonate with your soul and your concern for the world.
Suggestions:
Express your concerns for the environment in your wrapping of presents and decorating for the season. Make tree decorations that are messages of God’s justice.
Shop for the homeless, the hungry. Visit the lonely; make friends with those shunned.
Come Lord Jesus, come.
