John’s words leave us little room for comfort. The glorious coming of the promised One will demand we change. Recognition of sin is not enough. Worthiness comes only with just living. What can we do? How can we be joyous? John speaks so bluntly!

Holy God, we seek to be messengers of your justice and peace. Guide our steps. Remake our hearts. Fill our minds with your holiness. For only you can save. Have mercy. Come Lord, come. Amen.
